Mosh Posh Sneak for June!

5.28.2010

It's a beauty! I got my box earlier this week and was really wanting to play with it but just haven't been feeling up to it (I know I'm really sick when I don't even feel the urge to create something!). Crossing my fingers that with my antibiotic now in my system I'll be feeling good enough to dig into this coming month's gorgeous and super classy kit over the long holiday weekend. It's romantic and classy with a bit of a vintage flair to it...I'm in love! Kristen does such a nice job putting these kits together! To see the full kit be sure to check the Mosh Posh site...it should be up sooner than later!

Oh My Goodness!

5.27.2010

My Matryoshka doll card is being featured on the Hero Arts blog today! I am so stoked!

Today needed a bit of a silver lining...my day started with an 8am doctor's visit and my walking out of the office a half an hour later with just a few (five) prescriptions to fill. Turns out I have a very nasty sinus infection (and have for awhile now). Kind of makes sense as last night at dinner I told Ethan that if I went to the doctor and they didn't give me something I thought I would break down and cry...that's the kind of pain and pressure I've been having in my head lately. And I thought it was allergies! :) Looking forward to hopefully feeling much better soon!

Music Love

Love the video, the use of light and dark, the music, his voice, the lyrics and his moves at the end of the video. Classy.

Zoey's Spring Dance Recital

Zoey's Dance Recital

The grandparents came up this weekend to watch Zoey's dance recital.

Zoey's Dance Recital

It was, as usual, a very fun time and seeing her up there on stage was just the sweetest thing!

Zoey's Dance Recital

There was a bit of confusion during the "End of the Sea" finale, all the girls were to pick up a fish that was on stage...she was hoping to get the fish that had a "G" on it (someone decorated a fish with the Green Bay Packers symbol) for Papa because he likes the Packers. She is so darn sweet.

You can catch a glimpse of her slight disappointment with the fish that she did end up with.

Feeding the Fish

I went to a nursery/greenhouse that I had never been to here with my Mother-In-Law this weekend and Zoey (all of us actually!) were excited to discover a water garden of Koi fish!

Feeding the Fish

If it had been up to Zoey, we would have spent the entire afternoon here feeding the fish.

Feeding the Fish

They were so pretty with all their bright colors...

After we were certain that the fish indeed had had enough to eat (Zoey was very concerned that the smaller fish get some of the food that she threw, it was pretty cute) we did in fact get to see some of the flowers and more of the nursery itself.

Flowers

Again, more beautiful colors were to be seen.

Another bonus find...playground equipment in the middle of the nursery! Grannie Annie actually got to look at flowers for a bit in peace and without the constant chatter of a five year old (asking when it was that she could feed the fish again)! :)

Zoey Fun!

Such a special afternoon...so glad that my Mother-In-Law suggested that we take a peek at this place!

Ready for Summer...

We all are definitely ready for summer here...the weather has been sticky-hot and humid lately and I'm ready to be done running Zoey everywhere (school especially) and ready for Ethan to be home again and to be around the house more. I'm ready for the change of pace that summertime brings too...

Speaking of all that, here is a layout that I recently did for Paper Studio using the fun Fiskars border punch Boundary Waters to make the waves (the same punch that I used below on my beach party invitations).

Ready 4 Summer

I've noticed that lately I've been loving the color orange...loving mixing it together with bright blues.

Close-Up of Ready 4 Summer

Hope to share some photos from the past weekend here soon. We had some fun with Grandma and Grandpa Jahnke as they were here visiting and Zoey had her spring dance recital and Ethan had to speak at the Baccalaureate service for the outgoing Seniors at the high school so it was a busy, busy, weekend! :)

Birthday Invites for a Beach Party!

5.21.2010
Birthday Invites for Beach Party!

We're going to be keeping Zoey's birthday party with her pals pretty low key this year (her birthday isn't until later next month) and head to the beach! I finished up the invitations the other night and just love them. I know they're not super fancy by any means but they are "happy" and when I think of Zoey, I think "happy" so for that reason, I love them. Also, it was Zoey's idea to make beach balls for them. I simply cut 1 inch circles from the three colors of cardstock that I used using my Martha Stewart Circle Cutting Template and cut them into thirds and stuck them all together adding a little button to the center. Super easy!

It's been a super busy week here as this weekend is Zoey's Spring Dance Recital which meant lots of extra activities this week for us after school like pictures, blocking, and tonight is rehearsal with the performance finally being tomorrow. Can't wait to watch her though...she always amazes me!

Have a great weekend!

Supplies Used for Invites: Bazzill, cardstock; Creative Cafe, buttons; Hero Arts, sun stamp; Fisk for Cardsars, Boundary Waters border punch; Stickles, glitter glue; Memories, ink; misc, other stamps

Petaloo International Projects for the Month of May

5.19.2010
Simple Cards Using Petaloo Flowers

Here are my projects for the month of May using flowers from Petaloo, International. The theme this month for us that are on the design team was 'children' and I just couldn't get in the groove for that using the elegant Peony Blooms so I came up with some simple cards that I can give to mothers of children...just to brighten up their day (trust me, I know that sometimes we mothers need a little something special to make us smile).

Simple Cards Using Petaloo Flowers

Super easy to create...I used the white A2 sized cards from Creative Cafe and simply cut them in half and then adhered my flowers to a punched out circle that I raised a bit using 3 dimensional adhesive. I stamped a sweet phrase along the bottom and added a gem. I had the fabric leaves in my stash and thought they went perfectly so I added them to the cards at the last minute.

For my layout below I kept with the theme nicely as it's a layout of Zoey while at one of her dance recitals last year. The Glittered Daisy Flowers went perfectly with her outfit that she was wearing!

Watching You Grow

Here is a close-up of the flowers...I added some of the Jewel Centers to the centers of my blooms for a bit of added elegance!

Close-Up of Watching You Grow

I have the day off of work today and get to go eat lunch with Zoey at school today! She's so excited and I've been told several times that I'm to follow her and she'll show me what I need to do and where I need to go once I'm there...love her so much!

Have a beautiful Wednesday!

Another Wreath

5.18.2010
Mother's Day Wreath

Thought I'd quick share the one that I made for my Mother-In-Law for Mother's Day this year...she is really into gardening (flowers) so I thought that the flower seed packs would work well for her version of the project...the papers that I used on the wreath itself are by Basic Grey and Cosmo Cricket...kind of liked the mix of bright colors and patterns.

Happy Tuesday!

Found : Heart Shaped Stone

Yesterday Zoey and I had a picnic at a favorite beach and after eating she did some wading in the water (it was that warm out, finally!) and she quite literally walked into the water, looked down, and pulled out this stone that was in the perfect shape of a heart. Pretty much sums up our afternoon. =)

It's Showtime!

After school on Thursday I picked Zoey up from school and we went to a neighboring town and checked out the circus.

We both enjoyed it and had so much fun...I still remember how excited I was at the thought of getting to go to the circus when I was a little girl only to have gotten the chickenpox the week they were in town so instead of getting to see real live elephants and tigers, I had to stay at home in bed with my good ol' stuffed animals.

It just so happened too that we bumped into friends there...which is always an added bonus, especially when they have cotton candy (and their name is Ruby). =)

DSC07321

Zoey's favorite part of the circus were the girls that twirled and danced on the ropes (of course!) and my favorite part was the daredevil motorcycle guy who rode his bike on a wire complete with girls hanging below him. Pretty intense.

DSC07370

DSC07379

The motorcycle actually flipped upside down at one point so the girls were above the wire and he was hanging below...no picture of that because I was so shocked that my camera dropped to my lap as I thought it was an accident and not really a part of the show!

DSC07373

Then afterwords we made a stop for a late dinner, just us girls out on the town...

DSC07384

Can you tell that sugar in it's purest of forms was prefacing this dinner? I think so.

Lots of fun little bits throughout the evening, it was hard to get good pictures of it all just because the lighting kept on changing but I did my best and most of all, just enjoyed it right along with Zoey...so glad that we made the trip (even if we did get home after her bedtime and on a school night). You've got to live a little right?
