Mother's Day Hike
5.10.2010
We ended up hiking the Raven Trail yesterday (perfect weather for hiking, cool but with the sun shining...it was hard to believe that everything was covered in snow just the day before but it was). We tackled the "expert" trail this time around which was about 5 miles and included some very steep incline's here and there throughout. Zoesie probably hiked a good 3 miles of it and then was perched on Ethan's shoulders for the other two.
It was fun hanging out together and taking in what mother nature has to offer us here, each and every day.
We were the only ones out there too which made it all the more magical. We spotted several birds, chipmunks and squirrels but not much else. Ethan did however think he spotted some wolf prints.
Towards the end of the hike we came upon this neat structure that I thought looked to be almost like a turtle shell.
We had no idea that this was on the trail so it was really exciting just happening upon it the way that we did.
It was literally right in the middle of the trail so we had to walk through it to keep on going on our way...which we gladly did.
The design was just amazing...I wish I knew who did this.
There were also some logs that were down that someone had carved designs in which I thought was pretty cool too...
After our hike we went out for lunch at Hoggie Doggies! Zoesie got some macaroni and cheese triangles (her favorite from Hoggie Doggie's) and an ice cream cone with "eyes" and I got some potato soup with a Toasted Cinnamon Shortcake as my special Mother's Day dessert. Yum..yum!
It was a very special day spent with some very special people. Thankful that I am so lucky as to get to be called "mom."
