Birds of a Feather August - Final Layouts

8.24.2015

I'm posting my final projects using this month's Birds of a Feather kit...I was able to create five layouts with the basic kit and a few added extras and I still have left over goodies for my stash! Love that!

Some of the kit extras that I ordered this month were the Hazel & Ruby Fat Roll Washi Tape, Quote Me strips...LOVE THEM! And I have a ton left over to use on many more projects to come!

I had fun pulling out these photos of Zoey kayaking for the first time on her own this summer. I'm so proud of her for trying this!

I also snagged the extra embellishments as well and am so glad that I did. Love the chalkboard hearts and the WOW clips! I used them on a couple of my projects this month and still have some left over to use for other projects.

For the Hoggie Doggie's layout I had originally intended on cutting out the title and using the individual letters for my title work, however, once I saw the reverse image of the cut, I decided I wanted to use that instead! I love how it turned out.

For my final layout that I'm sharing this month I kept things simple and sweet. I had a challenge posted for the month of August and wanted to use some bits from this month's kit for it. I simply used some of the patterned paper scraps that I had left over, blue cardstock, glittered alpha's, a cardstock sticker butterfly and some of the sticky drops. My challenge was to create a layout using photos in the shape of a circle.

Simple and sweet! I have to say that I love how the blue paper really pops on the page and something kind of funny...I didn't even realize that Zoey's orange bathing suit matches the orange embellishments on the layout until after I had taken photos of it and loaded it here on the blog!

Well, that's it for the August kit...can't wait to see what September will bring!

Birds of a Feather August Kit - Layouts

8.17.2015

Sharing a couple layouts that I created using the August kit from Birds of a Feather Kit Club. I loved the colors in this month's kit, definitely a fun one to get started creating with for the start of my design team gig with them!

I had fun using my Silhouette Cameo die-cutting machine, my sewing machine AND printing my journaling on these layouts. You should have seen my craft room...I had cords plugging in everywhere! I have three more layouts that I created using this kit but will wait and share them later this month.

The roller-skating photos were from this past spring when Zoey was testing out her new skates that she got from her grandparents for Christmas. Nope...I obviously don't scrap in any sort of order!

Really had fun creating with this month's kit. To get your own or to subscribe to upcoming kits be sure to check out the Birds of a Feather website. I also have a challenge up on the message board for August, so be sure to check that out as well.

Some Sneaks of my August Layouts for Birds of a Feather!

8.09.2015

I have to admit that upon waking up today and knowing that I had the day off from work AND that we were to have thunderstorms this afternoon I was excited and right off the bat had deemed the day a day to scrapbook and dig into my August kit from Birds of a Feather Kit Club.

I love, love, LOVE this month's kit! The colors, fun mix of patterned papers and embellishments really made it a fun kit to create with.

I really must have been overdue for some scrapbook time because my mojo was ON! I took a break to make lunch for Zoey and that's about it...now my craft room is due for some re-organizing...but that's fun too, so no biggie there.

I can't wait to share my complete projects with you so stay tuned for my full reveal...in the meantime be sure to check out what the other gals are creating over on the Birds of a Feather blog and create an account to chat with us on the Birds of a Feather message board! We will be posting our challenges for the month of August on the message board too, so be sure to check them out.

P.S. I have been told that if you sign up for a Birds of a Feather subscription and mention that I sent you (Jen D.) there may be a fun little something extra in it for you and I both!

Something Unexpected...

8.03.2015

The other day Ethan and I came home and there was a canoe leaning against the garage...along with two paddles. We have wanted a canoe pretty much since, ever. Ethan had been helping out a friend and colleague this summer with some creative projects and this friend ended up setting us up with a canoe! A canoe, two paddles AND three life jackets!

To say we were excited is an understatement. We had to take it out right away to "test" it out.

We started out by putting it in at the dam at Lake Kawaguesaga and then paddled into Lake Minocqua.

I have to admit that I was a bit nervous paddling among the bigger and much faster bread of boats and may have shared a few choice words with Ethan along the way but it was all good in the end.

We survived and Ethan has assured me that we will choose some calmer waters next time!

Zoey is pretty excited about owning a boat. Just like her Auntie Bailey!

I handed my camera over to her at one point which meant plenty of Zoey "selfies" were on the camera! She took all of the following photos:

So much fun! Feeling thankful for big and little kindnesses.

Birds of a Feather Design Team & August Kit!

I'm so excited to share that I'm officially a "Scrap Chic" at Birds of a Feather Scrapbook Kit club! With the approaching school year (that's sadly almost upon us!) it means that I will have a bit more time for holing up here at home in my craft room and crafting again. I have to admit that I am looking forward to this part of the start of school...but I will certainly MISS having Zoey around to hang out and have fun with!

That said, I'm super excited to get started in on creating with the Birds of a Feather scrapbooking kits! The one for August is already in my hands and I've been itching to play with it ever since it landed on my doorstep! To see a listing of everything that's included in this month's kit check out the complete detailed listing here. For my scrapbook friends that enjoy chatting in an online forum type of setting, be sure to check out the Hen House for some chatting fun and to stay up to date on all that's happening at Birds of a Feather and what's coming up for the next month's kit. We need to liven this place up!

I've had the past few days off of work here and I've enjoyed the down time as I was working non-stop leading up to this little break and needed the time to chill. We took advantage of our time together as much as we could with a day of swimming and another one canoeing and also bit the bullet and purchased a much needed washer and dryer. Yippee...we finally have a working set! The past few months Ethan and I have come up with some interesting ways of finagling our old set to get by. It will be so nice to go into the new school year with the knowledge that we will be able to wash and dry clothes whenever we wish!

Off now to go do a load of laundry since it's back to work for me tomorrow! Hoping to do a little crafting yet this evening too!
