Sweet + Simple Cards

1.22.2018

Sharing a quick post here today...I used some scraps that were left over from the Cocoa Daisy January kit to make these simple little cards. I simply punched out the hearts using some cardstock and patterned paper from the kit, used my scalloped edge border punch for the white trim and added some contrast with scraps of teal paper as well.

I did do some machine stitching along the border for just a extra touch of something special.

Do you make valentines for people or is it a holiday that you let pass you by? In the past we would make valentines for Zoey's friends but now that she's older that's not so much the case! I'm thinking these will be sweet little cards to give to Ethan and Zoey, along with some little treats.

Folded Square Mini | First Dance

1.21.2018

I have a BIG TIME scrappy crush on Paige Taylor Evans, I love every single little thing that she creates. I love her style, the colors she uses and how she thinks outside of the box when it comes to her designs on everything from her scrapbook layouts to her mini-albums. When I saw her Folded Square Mini-Album I knew that it was one that I wanted to try my hand at and I'm so glad that I did. I love it!!!

For my first go at using this design for a mini, I decide to use photos that I already had printed out. I had several photos that I printed awhile back of Zoey and her friends getting ready for their first middle school dance (from when they were in the 6th grade). They were 2x3 inches and I had enough of them to house in a mini-album.

All of the papers and most of the embellishments that I ended up using are from past and present Cocoa Daisy kits.

This is such a fun design for a base for a mini-book! I love the dimension that is created with the folded paper from the base of the book as well as the challenge that's presented of how to use that space.

It's kind of a grey day here so you can't get the exact hues of the colors going on here with these papers and different elements but you get a pretty decent idea I think.

This orange spread was especially tricky to capture with my lighting today.

Here is a picture of the album opened up and clipped with a mini clothespin. So pretty!!

You can download the digital file for creating the base of this book from the Silhouette Design store HERE if you are interested.

I can't wait to make another one of these albums, I have a feeling it's going to be one of my go-to designs for mini's now!

We're gearing up for another snow storm here so I'm off to go get some groceries. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

You + Me, Me & You | Scrapbook Layout

1.20.2018

Sharing another layout here using the January 12x12 Memory Keeping kit and bits from the Pocket kit as well...love the versatility of this month's kit. For my background heart cut-out I used a digital cut file from my Silhouette library and then cut different colored/patterned strips of paper for the negative space within the heart. Originally I was going to put my photos in the frames (center) but after playing around a bit I decided I liked them for housing part of my title work instead.

Here's a close-up of my journaling...

This weekend Zoey is away with friends attending a Beatles Tribute concert in Minneapolis. She was so excited, she's a HUGE Beatles fan and so are a few of her friends. I am looking forward to hearing all about it when she get's back into town.

Enjoy your weekend!

Valentine Bookmarks!

Sharing some photos of my simple make-n-take that's set up in the teen room at the library starting this week...can you believe that this is the first time that I've ever attempted making yarn pom poms?!?! These ones are pretty loosely made since we're being conservative in regards to our yarn supply but they still turned out really cute!

There is a jar of paperclips nearby so the kids can easily attach the pom poms on to the printed bookmarks when they are done.

Perfect little library craft!

Books, Art Stuff, Legos, Music | Scrapbook Layout

1.11.2018

Sharing another layout I created using this month's kit from Cocoa Daisy...I used both the 12x12 Memory Keeping kit as well as the Pocket kit. I thought it would be fun to document a bit of what Zoey is interested in. We recently did a little rearranging of her bedroom with some minor decor  change and now these items pretty much make up her space!

I kind of like my cluster of text for my title work on this one...I don't think I've ever done my title like this before on a layout. Fun to change things up a bit every now and then.

Holiday Baking | Scrapbook Layout

1.10.2018

Sharing my first layout created using Cocoa Daisy's January Memory Keeping and Pocket kits! I'm especially loving the pops of yellow that show up in the month's kit. January, especially where we live, is known for gray and cloudy days...that are looooong. Working with these happy and bright colors definitely helps with these dreary days!

I had fun using photos from this past month's baking day that Zoey and I shared. It was easily one of my favorite holiday memories this year. So glad I took the time to put it on a page for the album.

This month has me feeling a bit frenzied for some reason. Things are getting busier at work, and we're dealing with some extra stuff around here these days which makes for some crazy days. Feeling thankful I had a bit of time this afternoon to create with my kit!! It's been sitting on my desk for days!

Sharing My One Little Word for 2018

1.01.2018

I chose the word "becoming" for my OLW for this year...it will be a good one to embrace and reflect on for sure these next coming days and months. Lots of soul work, nitty gritty health work, it's actually fitting for so very many different reasons. It will be interesting to see what I do with this word throughout the year...if I just think about it daily, use it in my photography or creative projects, etc. I'm not putting pressure on myself to do any one thing specific but rather am embracing the word itself and the work it will take to put it into practice.
