Love Found

7.26.2017

Today while walking our dog Leo I had the thought that it would be cool if I found a heart shaped rock. I looked down to start my search and found one immediately.

Pretty neat.

I guess one could say that there is love to be found, all around, if you just think to look.

Right Now | Scrapbook Layout

7.24.2017
Popping on to share a quick layout I put together the other night...these photos are from a recent visit to Lake Superior. Zoey is reading an old book on acting techniques that she purchased (using her own money) at a used book store while I sat beside her just enjoying the view.

Love simple moments like this. Truly makes one feel that life, is in fact, pretty darn lovely.

This was Zoey's first day of freedom after having been busy for the past three weeks with drama camp. She had a sleepover last night and has a birthday party to go to later this week. Hoping that one day soon, things will align themselves and the weather will be nice, I won't have to work and Zoey's social calendar will be free so we can go swimming!! It's almost August and we haven't even been in a lake once yet! Need to remedy that soon.

The Campanile Summer Childrens Theatre - The Reluctant Dragon

7.23.2017

It's been a busy weekend here. Zoey's play, The Reluctant Dragon was this weekend with performances Friday - Sunday which has meant a lot of driving around and meal prepping! And lots of fun of course! This is the culmination of three weeks of a summer theatre workshop that is put together through our local center for the arts program. It's amazing. So very happy that Zoey has the opportunity to be a part of this ever summer.

This is her third summer participating and next year will be the last year that she will be able to be an actor in it, but will be able to be a helper thereafter.

She played the part of the dragon this year which was so much fun for her! This years' play was very fun and somewhat comedic in nature. Perfect for summer!

Best part according to Zoey was her mock fight scene with her good friend Ava.

And a picture of some of her friends that came to the show! Love that our community supports the arts!!!

T-Shirt Tote Bag Craft

7.19.2017

Working as a teen librarian I get to come up with different program ideas that usually have to fit into a somewhat small budget. I saw the idea for making tote bags using old t-shirts on Pinterest and thought it would be the perfect project for my teens!

So easy...find a t-shirt that you no longer wear or pick one up at your local thrift shop, (which is what I did)...

and cut around the arms, neck and then cute fringe along the bottom of the t-shirt. Tie off ends of your cut pieces of fringe in a single knot, and then tie again, only this time tie the neighboring fringed piece with the other neighboring fringed piece so that you no longer see any little holes in the bottom of your bag.

For another variation of this project you could tie off your fringed ends on the inside of your bag. So fun and EASY!!

A Fun Scrappy Share!

Pretty pumped about discovering that I was the winner of the giveaway posted on Lisa Dickinson's blog the other day! Woot..woot! Super excited especially to get to play with the alphabet stamp set that was designed by none other than Lisa herself! Pretty cool...now if only my scrappy mojo would make itself known again, and SOON!

What is it that you do that helps to bring on your creative mood when it disappears? For me, I usually check out favorite scrappy blogs or Instagram accounts, print photos and get some REST!! I think that's my problem today, just too tired to feel it.

Have a good night! Here's to a creative tomorrow...

Wild & Free | Scrapbook Layout

7.18.2017

I got to take Zoey to her first real concert this past weekend. We saw Brett Dennen and Josh Ritter at Big Top Chautauqua. It was so much fun! She's thirteen now and finally getting into music and she knew both of these artists and liked them, so listening and getting to see them live was pretty darn cool for her and I both. Since coming home, I've observed that she has put their music on her playlist on Spotify. Makes my heart happy knowing that enjoying music and going to concerts is something we will be able to share now that she's older and more appreciative.

For this scrapbook layout I used mostly items from this month's Scrapbook Circle kit and some odds and ends I had in my stash. I created this with Shimelle Laine's 25 Days of Scrapbooking Challenges in mind too, I went with #9's challenge "Sing a Song" and thought it fitting.

And, for those of you that may be music lovers as well, here are two of our favorites from this weekend:

Watching Brett Dennen was a real treat! He was adorable, sat on a stool with bare feet and was just so real. Really enjoyed listening to him sing and talk! Zoey did too. Very refreshing and funny too!

Josh Ritter was pretty matter of fact and didn't chat much, but sounded amazing as well.

The two lined up together were a perfect duo for a well rounded concert. The intimate space and set up of the venue truly added to the experience. I told Zoey I had never been to a concert that was so intimate feeling. Pretty special.

Oh Happy Day! | Scrapbook Layout

7.17.2017

Taking a break from summer road trip vacay photos to share this layout that I created for Shimelle Laine's challenge of 25 Days of Scrapbooking Words. I knew exactly what photos I would be using for her challenge for #7. Zoey was so excited (and so was I!) to see these giant mushrooms growing while out on a nature hike. Glad I got the photos down on a page.

Here is Shimelle's list of challenges...I'm going to pick and choose which ones I'll be doing and am not going to stress (obviously) about getting them done on time or done in any particular order. That's what I love about these kind of things. Just do it your way...and that will be okay.

To learn where you can share your layouts if you decide to participate be sure to check out Shimelle's blog HERE.

Summer Road Trip - Black Hills Institute Museum

7.08.2017

We are getting closer to the end of all of our vacation photos...please hang in there! Just wanting to make sure my parents get to see these and that Zoey has access to them down the road here on the blog. She loves looking back at photos on here. Which makes  my heart happy.

Anyways...

Dinosaurs, skeletons, bones, fossils, rocks and gemstones...what more could Zoey ask for in a dream come true scenario?

She was in awe and pretty much absolute heaven while here. She had some spending money that was all hers for the trip and this is where she spent some of it. She saved the rest and brought it home for her piggy bank. So that should tell you just how much she loved this place. Her purchases were a t-shirt that has the periodic table of elements on it and a small bottle of genuine gold and another of silver.

I'm just going to share photos for the rest of this post. Just know that this was a place we ended up spending some time in. A very enjoyable little stop!
