Easter Classroom Treat...Treats for my Peeps!

3.26.2015

Zoey wanted to bring her classmates a little something special for a spring break/Easter treat tomorrow and since I work late tonight it had to be (or I wanted it to be) something pretty simple and easy to make. When searching online I happened upon this super cute (and easy!) little treat using Peeps and knew this was the thing to do.

All you do is stick a little bunny Peep on to a fancy paper straw, put a little baggie over the top and tie with some baker's twine! Yay for an easy classroom treat that's super cute and festive for this time of year!

Simple as That even has the printable tags online for you to download and print so it's a snap to re-create!

We're getting excited for Spring Break and Easter here! Hoping for some sunshine...we just got more snow dumped on us yesterday and are getting more today so I'm not sure just how likely that will be...but we can hope!

SWIM (a Scrapbook Layout) + Bits from the Weekend

3.24.2015

Sunday morning Zoey asked me if I wanted to go swimming...and after thinking about it for about a minute, we were packing our stuff up to go to the pool. It was the perfect way to spend the morning. I printed up the photos from our little outing and scrapped a layout using them later that afternoon while Zoey worked on her homework.

The pictures were taken on Instagram and aren't the super best quality but I am having fun using the square sizes on layouts.

This was a pretty quick layout to put together, I kept the design pretty simple since I wanted the photos to stand out. The patterned papers I used are from my Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste 12 x 12 paper pad and another one from Pebbles, Inc. Love those paper pads!

This is the last week before Zoey's Spring Break at school...not sure if we're going to get to do anything fun like getting away but hopefully, if not, we can plan some fun outings like this to make it feel like we're out and about. Sometimes those mini adventures are even more fun than the big planned ones!

Spring Greetings!

3.23.2015

The first official day of Spring has come and gone, hooray! We STILL have snow on the ground where I am though, it's ever so s-l-o-w-l-y melting which makes me very happy. I'm ready to move on to sunshine, green grass and flowers!

To celebrate the coming of Spring I wanted to create a card using a mason jar stamp that I have and was looking for ideas on Pinterest and came across these when searching. Obviously, the card pictured here is what I ended up coming up with.

The patterned papers are from Pebbles, Inc. and are just perfect for the stamped sentiment don't you think? I have to admit that I was pretty tickled when I came across the umbrella patterned paper in my stash! The sentiment is from Hero Arts.

I had fun pulling out my Copic markers for the coloring too...love using those!

After the weekend we had here I am feeling re-charged and pretty good...ready to take on the week ahead at least! Zoey and I were able to enjoy some quality time together and I also managed some time to work on some creative projects. Ethan was pretty much M.I.A. due to Forensics responsibilities so he may not be feeling as ready as I am for the week to start, he has been able to sneak in some basketball games though which I know makes him happy.

Hoping for some more sunshine to melt that snow away!

Birthday Love

3.22.2015

Her birthday isn't until June but the other day she was talking about what it is that she'd like to do for her upcoming one, which led to her talking about how it is that she felt about last year's birthday and it hit me that I hadn't scrapped a layout using pictures from last year's birthday...so here it is!

I literally only had these three photos from her birthday last year since it was such a crazy day...her birthday fell on the exact day that we could move into our new house which meant it was a pretty intense and crazy day for everyone. If you read the journaling though, it happens to be one of Zoey's favorite all time birthdays! Perspective can be funny!

This was a fun layout to put together...love all the bright and happy colors of the papers and elements I used, perfect for brightening up those dark pictures! I've also been having fun using my sewing machine on my pages again.

Happy scrapping!

Hello Happy!

3.21.2015

I got to enjoy a little time yesterday to myself and opted to spend it in my craft room. I had fun using a bit of my current scrapbook kit from Scrapbook Circle and really had fun using this FREE SVG cut from Jillibean Soup. I love, love, love, LOVE it! So fun to have an easy way to use lots of fun patterned papers using this template for a layout. I have a feeling I'll be using it again and again.

The photo that I used was one from late last summer, taken on Instagram. It's easily one of my favorites of Zoey and I. Love Z's big smile.

Today it's just Zoey and I...and she's got a birthday party to go to this afternoon so I might get a little more time to play in my craft room!

Snapshots

3.18.2015
7:30 a.m.

I snapped this picture early this morning of Zoey reading before school. Believe it or not, she does read books other than those in the Harry Potter series!

7:30 p.m.

Enjoying some (gluten free) super moist devil's food cake that I made on a whim after school today. Everyone loved it. Some days demand chocolate cake.

The day is complete.

The Weekend

3.15.2015

My back has been bothering me now here for about a week and a half. Today I forced myself to go out with Zoey for a little adventuring. I'm so glad that I did. While I moved pretty slow and wasn't very exciting I am sure, it was good to move my muscles and just get outside and breath in the outside air. Hoping I don't pay for it tomorrow.

As you can see, we still have lots of snow...it's melting though! The puddles all had a little glaze of ice over them. The sun peeked out here and there this morning too which was nice.

Zoey of course found the puddles...some things don't change as you get older it seems. There is still that gravitational pull to jump in those puddles!

We walked down our road to the Tomahawk River...we saw lots of deer tracks.

We can't wait for the snow to melt completely! For today, it was nice to listen to the birds, see the melting snow and smell the earth warming up around us.

It was so good to be with my girl today, even if I'm not at 100%. This is what it's all about. Many, many days from today I hope she can pull up these memories of her and I doing things like this. Going to the beach to build fairy houses, exploring new woods' and forests. Hiking one of the many trails around our home. I hope this won't escape her memory of us.

All around it's been a pretty quiet weekend. I did get out and set up my easel. Zoey didn't even know I had it which is pretty sad because it says just how long it's been packed away. I'm hopeful that she will get to see me painting and using it.

While I was setting up my easel Zoey worked on painting a canvas for herself. I had picked up some canvases at our Ace Hardware store at the bucket sale that they have...everything that you can fit in a bucket gets a sale % price off and you get to keep the bucket. A pretty good deal.

We tried to sleep in this weekend and relax...I'm trying to heal whatever is going on with my back. This guy has been loving the relaxed theme that's for sure!

He's all about cuddling and snoozing. Which, if I'm being honest, this weekend was perfect for me. I love this little guy so much...love his feisty and persnickety personality and I can't say that I am not flattered that it's obvious he loves me VERY much. Follows me around the house and has to know where I am every second. Yes, he has me wrapped around his little paw.

I finished reading this book (pretty creepy) and am now off to try and find another one to get started. One thing that I can do while resting on a heating pad is read! Thanks goodness!

Over all, it's been a nice weekend...not sure I'm ready for the work week to start up again so soon though.

SEI's March Paper-crafting Kit

3.10.2015

The preview for the March paper-crafting kit from SEI is so pretty! Loving the spring colors and that I am spying some owls! Everyone that knows me knows that I am on an owl kick as of late. This would be a fun kit to create with for sure. You can order yours here.

Love that I'm seeing signs of spring as of late! Hoping our weather catches up!

Birthday Card

3.09.2015

I have a special friend that has a pretty important birthday coming up here at the end of this week...I had some time today to make up a cute card using my Silhouette Cameo and this adorable die from Jamie Lane. Can you tell that I used scraps from the layout that I did this past weekend? I'm going to try and challenge myself to create a card using scraps from my layouts since usually my scraps will go in my bin and then I never look at them again! This way I hope to use them up before they get forgotten!

The sentiment stamped inside is from My Favorite Things...

Hope your week is off to a great start! Zoey and I have a bet as to whether or not there will still be snow on the picnic table today when she gets home from school. It's supposed to get up to 40 degrees today! She thinks the snow will have melted and I hope she's right!

A Sketch and a Layout

3.08.2015

I had some fun today creating a layout based on this sketch from the blog Scrapbook Challenges. As you can see I didn't follow it exactly which is pretty much always the case for me when I follow sketches. I love how they always provide a great jumping off point but allow you to change course whenever or if the desire strikes.

I ended up scrapping some pictures of Zoey at the beach from this past summer...our view outside right now is of at least two feet of snow still in the yard, so this view (even if it's just on my desk and in photos) is very welcoming at the moment.

 Here's to warmer days ahead!
