Our First Fairy Festival...

7.27.2013

It was a chilly day today, it only got up to about 57 degrees and it was overcast all day AND we were near the water so it was very cool!  We braved it to the Fairy Festival in Three Lakes, Wisconsin though.  We had gotten tickets for it and wanted to see what it was all about.  I am SO VERY happy that we did it!  It was such a special time.

Zoey wore her outfit that she got from the fairies in our woods this past Christmas.  Her doll Claire came along too.

Here is Zoey and her friend Ruby with their fairy loving dolls in tow.  So sweet!

Here we are checking in and getting our wristbands for the day.

This is the amazing and beautiful house and grounds where the festival was held.  Purely magical.

We got there a wee bit early so we got to check out the grounds a bit and look over the layout of everything before the opening ceremonies.  It was so organized and not overwhelming at all.

This is where the tea parties were held...I'm glad that I was able to get photos of this special spot before it became crowded with people.

Thanks Misty for taking this photo of Zoey and I!

Getting ready for the opening ceremonies to begin...

Introductions were made...

Singing and then a fairy parade complete with handmade floats...

We were warned of the Fairy Catcher that would be walking the grounds all day...Zoey tried to escape him but alas, did not succeed as you will discover later.

The dance of Earth, Wind and Fire...

Singing...

More dancing...

Introduction of the fairies...

Some un-invited guests from Shakespearean times...

They called all the little fairies from the crowd to come and join them to get "jingles".

While the girls were gone I snapped a photo of their dolls.

These were the lovely ladies that helped with the tea parties.

And then it was time for the little fairies to parade with their jingles...

After the completion of the opening ceremonies you were free to explore and do what you wished. Zoey wanted to make and decorate a wand so we did that.  We also brought home a fairy door to decorate.

We took our crafts to the car so we didn't have to carry them around for the rest of the day and on our way back into the festival we stopped at the Sweet Shack for some fairy wands which were pretzel sticks dipped in chocolate with pink sprinkles.

Here is a Wishing Root...

Zoey and Ruby did some May Pole dancing...

They visited an ogre...they had to smile at him and he would give them a wishing stone which they were to make a wish with and then place in their pocket.

Zoey shared with him that she didn't have a pocket.  :)

Time for a hot chocolate break...

And then it was time to get in line for the Tea Party.

The girls lucked out and the older fairies were right behind them for a bit!  They got an up close view of their beautiful dresses and wings.

Once the music started however, the older girls took to the stage for some dancing.

While in line still, Zoey joined in the dancing.

At the Tea Party...

Is this not the sweetest place setting ever?  Just precious!

Here the girls are with the founding fairy of the festival.  This woman inspires me so much!  She has no children and she does this for these women and girls every year.  I've decided that when I grow up I want to do what she does.  :)

Before we left we spotted the older fairies having their tea party!!

And as we were walking out...who did we run into?  THE FAIRY CATCHER!!!  He was actually quite friendly.

This is what life is about.  Nothing over the top...just a little magic and whimsy sprinkled with fun. Tea cups, flowers, and wings.  A little bit of wonder.  A whole lot of special.  What a wonderful way to spend a day.
