My Cocoa Daisy Layouts for April

3.31.2012
DSC04685

This was my favorite layout that I created this month using April's Cocoa Daisy kit...I love that photo that I got of Zoey so I printed it in a 5 x 7 size and it worked out perfectly using this patterned paper in the main kit.  I even did a little inking along the edge of the layout and on my journaling strips!  It's been awhile since I've dug out my inks and played...perhaps this is the start of something?

Over spring break here Zoey and I had an afternoon where we painted our nails and toenails and even added stickers to them and painted over with glitter...a perfect girly thing to do together so I had to document it of course.  :)

Pretty fancy don't you think?

And then this last one posted here is just a little blip of my life.  I usually have friday afternoons off from work and when I don't have appointments scheduled or errands to run during that time (which doesn't happen often) I will sometimes stop at our local organic foods market and get some fresh fruit and an Izze sparkling juice as a special treat.  It's a little splurge every now and again.

I LOVED this month's kit to pieces, truly!  I have one more layout that I created using this month's kit and here is a little sneak of it for you...

I'll share the layout in full on Monday as well as the sketch that I came up for it as well after I post it on the Cocoa Daisy blog.  Until then...enjoy your crafting!

Daughter

I love how you look at the world and those around you at any given moment and have the ability to truly see what is at the root of it all. It is a gift that I hope you hold on to.

Your genuine desire to be good and true just shatters any ideas that I may have ever had that it's impossible to raise a responsible and accountable child in today's society.

I cherish that you still reach out to hold my hand when I know that so many peers do not. My hope is that there will always be a path paved between us both.

I love that you show your excitement as well as your hurts with me, even when it isn't easy.

I pray that I am giving you what you need to succeed at what matters the most in this life, a calm and peaceful heart.

I see a weakness that is my own in you, a certain kind of stubbornness, but also know that if called upon correctly it will serve you well when the time is right.

I continuously need to reign in my desire to protect you from all that is wrong with the world and allow you to see and determine for yourself what is what, to let you pave your own path to where it is that you need to go.

My darling and fierce daughter, how I love you so.

Spring Reading List

3.14.2012
Since it's spring break here where I am and I have a bit of time off from work I wanted to get my current list of books that are on my "To Read" list down while I have them in the forefront of my mind.  I'm currently reading and am almost done with the first book in the trilogy of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  I was holding out, I don't know why exactly...perhaps simply due to all the hype it's gotten but wow, I'm glad that I finally gave in and gave it a go as I am absolutely and positively hooked!  Love the first book so much, anticipating the others!  So without further adieu, here is my list of books to read within the next couple of months!

What's on your reading list these days?  Do you have any recommendations? I'd love to hear them!

St. Patty's Day Kid Friendly Craft

3.12.2012

* If you are interested in purchasing a box of scrapbook goodies from my spring cleaning purge I still have some left here.

Today Zoey and I were browsing in our local Variety store (like a Ben Franklin) and happened upon some rainbow twizzlers and some chocolate gold foiled coins.  I picked them up thinking we could make up a little table arrangement using them for St. Patrick's Day.  It turned out super cute and was easy for Zoey to put together plus there were some twizzlers left over to snack on...bonus!

Supplies:  1 package of rainbow Twizzlers, chocolate gold coins (or you could use gold wrapped Rolos), mason jar, and some green paper if you want to cut out some shamrocks to decorate like we did.

Is it starting to feel like spring where you are?  The snow is finally starting to melt here and yesterday Zoey and I actually sat outside in our lawn chairs soaking up the sun.  I'm sure we made for a somewhat strange site sitting with our feet up on our snow covered lawn!

Cocoa Daisy Layouts for March - Pier 39 + Some News

3.01.2012
DSC04193

I loved this month's kit so much!  I have to say though that I didn't have as much time to create with it yet due to getting ready for Montessori's International Day celebration.  Here is what I did come up with though...the pages are pretty simple but I still love them regardless.

DSC04189

I used my Silhouette Cameo for the word collage pictured above.

DSC04216

I love these photos of Zoey camping out in the yard last summer.  It's got me itching for spring even though we just got a huge dumping of snow just yesterday!

DSC04184

So many fun embellishment options this month with the kit and the various add-ons.

DSC04186

And I even created a Christmas layout using this light, pastel colored kit!  I couldn't resist seeing that the sweet pajamas matched just perfectly with these elements!

I also have some very special and fun news to share regarding Cocoa Daisy.  I've been asked to be the design team coordinator for the US team of designers and I've said YES!  I'll be sharing this position with my friend and design team member Lisa as she is the coordinator for the International team.  So very many years ago I wanted to be a part of the team of designers and now I'm not only part of the team, I'm the coordinator!  Talk about pushing on through and keeping on keeping on!  It's been worth all the effort and the enthusiasm on my part because this group of women is so phenomenal and I can't even begin to describe how supportive and accepting they are.  It's a blessing that I get to be a part of this community in this way.  Thank you to Christine for inviting me on board and thank you to Ronda who is stepping down and helping me learn the ropes.  Thank you as well to the Cocoa Daisy team and community itself for welcoming me on board with open arms.  I'm so excited for what lies ahead!
