Handmade Crayon Rolls w/Tutorial

12.01.2009
Crayon Rolls

I have been wanting to make one of these forever it seems and just either never made the time for it, wasn't confident enough in my sewing machine skills or didn't think I'd have the patience to get it right. Last night was apparently the night that I decided to take on my sewing machine and give it a go...one of these will be a stocking stuffer for Zoey and the others will be a little gift that she can give as a holiday gift to some of her special friends.

Crayon Rolls

I ended up making two last night and then two again early this morning. The great thing was that I had this cute fabric stashed away in my closet so I didn't even need to go out and make a purchase (other than the fresh, new crayons that is) to create this project!

Crayon Rolls

If you look closely, you'll see that my stitching is far from being perfect...but please remember that this is the first ever completed project using fabric alone that I've used my sewing machine for! I am so proud!!!

Crayon Rolls

There are many, many, many tutorials out there on the web for this project but I found my favorite to be this one by Chocolate on My Cranium. I like that you can't see the stitch lines on the outside of the crayon roll using her tutorial (some have you stitch through all three layers of your fabric).

Super fun project! If you decide to make some for yourself be sure to link them up here so I can see them! =)
