Table + Chairs

4.07.2009
I've really been wanting to get Zoey a nice table and chairs set for awhile now and with her enrolling in Kindergarten next year I was thinking that this would be the perfect time to invest in one. I've been looking out for a set at hardware stores and other places within the area and have had no luck in my search. Thus I've turned my search to the internet! I was thinking that it would be in her room and serve for a space for tea parties with friends (stuffed and real life ones!), an additional place for working on projects and some crafty things as well as a place for "working" on writing skills, small motor skills, a place to read and look at books and to do puzzles, etc. I've been researching what's out there for child size/friendly options. These are my favorites of what I've found so far, the first picture being my first choice, the second being my second choice, etc.

Children's Rectangular Table and Chairs Set - I would get this in white. I like that it has little cubbies for things, the seat height measures 13 inches high (which is great as it would fit her for quite some time yet and it's actually the highest measuring seat that I've been able to find thus far!) and the table measures 33.25L x 21.75W x 24H inches...again, liking that larger size and am thinking that out of all the choices, this is the one that she would get the most use of...this is of course, the most expensive one, but it did get the best reviews as well.

KidKraft Nantucket Table and Chairs Set - Love the colors of this one and that it comes with four chairs, that would be very useful for when friends come over and for feeding babies and things. =) The chair height for this set is 11 inches and the table measurements are 24L x 24W x 20H inches...the chair and table height is a bit lower than my first choice.

Gift Mark Peyton Table and Chair Set - This is another favorite, I like that it's white and that the seat height is 13 inches but I'm not so keen on the fact that the table height is only 21 inches and that I lose some space with the table as well as the measurements are: 24L x 24W x 21H inches.

Kidcraft Aspen Table and Chairs - This one is on sale...I like the look of it but it's again smaller than I think I was wanting. I think that Zoey would grow out of this one pretty fast. The chair height is 12 inches (which would be perfect) but the table is only 19 inches high. Measurements:24L x 24W x 19H Inches.

Decisions...decisions! Perhaps we'll wait a bit for her birthday which is coming up pretty soon as well...

On sale doesn't always mean best choice, sounds like "motherly advice", eh :) You could pick up a couple more chairs from a thrift shop for table #1, mix & match, cool.

I love the first one for sure. I was just thinking yesterday that I need to get a desk for my little guy who's starting kindergarten next year. Now you've inspired me to really look! And now I know another blog mama who's going to feel the same things I'm feeling come August!

You would not believe how many meals over the years I ate at a little table like this! My 1st baby is now 31 and looking for a wee table like this for her new one! Ahhh such memories!

I think your first choice is right on. You would hate for her to out grow the table sooner than you would like. The longer she is able to use it the better. Fun.

I like that first one especially because it looks like it has little storage cubbies under, and that would be a great thing to have! Plus, it is so classic it will be timeless if she passes it down to her own chidren!
