Holey Cardstock!

5.31.2008

Be sure to check out the Creative Imaginations blog for some inspiration on using the new Holey Cardstock created by Samantha Walker. There are so many designs, patterns and colors to choose from. I'm certain that you'll be able to find something that will provide much inspiration for that next project!
For the layout that I created pictured here I actually chose two patterns (the Sunshine Yellow Flower Holey Cardstock and the Hot Pink Dot Holey Cardstock). It's really fun to mix it up! The chipboard letters and scalloped paper are part of the Narratives Collection.

Layout Instructions:

Trim a bit off all four of the edges of the Sunshine Flower Holey Cardstock and adhere it to the Narratives, White Line Scalloped pp. Adhere photo to the upper center of the page. Above the photo adhere the Chipboard Letters. Cut the Hot Pink Dot Holey Cardstock to size (4 x 6 inches) and adhere directly below the photo. Cut journaling strips out of you cardstock and journal on them. Adhere your strips on the Pink Dot Holey Cardstock.

Feeling Good...

5.28.2008

Had some fun playing with my camera this past weekend. It was just nice to have the weather cooperating finally and so I snapped some shots on a walk that Ethan and I took while at the cottage.

Had to get one of the rhubarb...reminds me of my grandma's homemade strawberry-rhubarb jam. Also reminds me of a rhubarb spice cake that I used to make. I'll have to get busy and look for that recipe and share it once I do as it was so good.

Today was a productive day, not so much as in getting "work" done, but as in getting to spend some quality time with Zoey. So important to remember to stop and just chill with her a bit, giving her some one-on-one time is so important not only for her but for me. We went to a park here in town that is along one of the many lakes and for a while it was just us and we played and built some sand castles and then she met and played with two other little girls for a good two hours or so. It was so nice to be out in the sun and to see her cheeks flushed and rosy from running and playing. Can't even tell you how happy I am that all signs of winter have now seemed to fade. After our afternoon at the park we came home and I prepared a nice home cooked meal using a new recipe for manicotti that I found off the internet (which was really good and easy by the way!) and a fruit salad to boot and to say that we enjoyed it would be an understatement! Love these kind of days. The ones where you are able to see that it is just enough and that all is good and the kind where everyone is tired and full and happy at the end of the day...gotta love that.

Creating Keepsakes!

5.27.2008

Just found out today that I'm listed as a scrapbooker whose work was noticed by the editors in the June issue of Creating Keepsakes! I haven't seen it yet myself but am super excited. I've been trying to get pubbed in this magazine for awhile now and just having the recognition means a lot. Guess I'll keep trying! And a special thanks to Bobbi who emailed me letting me know that I was named in there. I wouldn't have even known if it hadn't been for you, thanks!

Memorial Day Weekend...

5.26.2008

was an enjoyable one for us here. It meant that we finally all had a moment to reconnect with nothing else pressing to do. Just time together...it felt good. It meant that family was visiting and that we got to spend time at the cottage together which included a perfect day weather-wise and thus grilling out and getting some yummy burgers off the grill cooked by non other than the "Grill Sargent" Ken (still Boca burgers for E though!).
Since the weather was so agreeable Ethan and I opted to take the canoe out. We've never taken Zoey out before (as she is so cautious at times when it comes to new things, and has been especially so regarding swimming) and so this time when I told her that mama and papa were going to take the boat out for a bit we were surprised when she said "I want to come to!" and "Where's my life jacket?" So, this Memorial Day weekend marked Zoey's first trip out in the canoe. It was AWESOME and we were so proud of her and amazed yet again by the knowledge that when she's ready for something, she's simply ready. We're looking forward to many more trips out on the lakes here this summer as a family now and making an afternoon of it now that we know that it's something that we all can enjoy together. I can't wait to see the pictures of all three of us in the boat on the lake and will share them when my MIL shares them with us.
Hope everyone had a wonderful, memorable and safe holiday!

Happy Birthday Cheryl Mezzetti!

Just a shout out to one of the best design team coordinator's there ever was! Cheryl, hope you have a wonderful birthday celebration and are able to relax a bit with some time spent with family and friends. If anyone deserves some "down" time it's you! It has been an absolute pleasure being able to work with you and to get to know you through working with Creative Imaginations. Is it Terrible...

5.07.2008

That my days are so busy that I've gone ahead and made sure to make Zoey's birthday cards a whole month and a half early? Seriously...this summer is being eaten up before it's officially begun. To be fair though I've been wanting to use my Cuttlebug (for the embossing on the cards) and so this project I guess served a dual purpose!

Direction.
